Keeping a Brazilian Rainbow Boa

I chose this article because Brazillian Rainbow Boas are one of my favorite snakes. They have a vibrant iridescence which makes them basically eye candy to all herp lovers. What i liked about this article is that it is extremely helpful when keeping a Rainbow Boa. It helps you know what temperatures to keep your snake in and ways to keep your snake healthy happy and thriving. A typical sized Brazilian Rainbow boa is anywhere from 4-7 feet in length. Meaning that you need to keep this snake a large cage for them to have room to move. You would also like some vertical space so they can have some time to climb. You also need a good substrate that can hold a good amount of humidity. Canadian Peat Moss is a really good substrate, and most herpers use this for subspecies. The diet of the snake is primarily made up of rodents. Choosing the best size would rely on the girth of your snakes body. Live food isn't really necessary do to the fact that it could harm your snake or even make your snake more aggressive. Cleaning the cage and keeping it maintained is a very efficient way to keep your snake healthy. Because since the humidity would be high, the bottom of your cage bedding would be a great place to have mold. Which could kill your snake in the long run. Although a little nippy as babies, brazilian Rainbow Boas are an easy tamed snake with the proper handeling. But they are also a very active species.
